I have always been drawn to art. Some of my fondest memories as a child involved colouring books and Derwent pencils! I started painting as a hobby when my children were young and I was lucky enough to sell paintings and win some art awards.
I had a break from painting for many years, let’s say life and a career in Nursing got in the way! The recent pandemic made me realise the importance of doing things you love. I have taken a break from Nursing and have been blessed with more time and the ability to fill it creatively. I paint most days and have completed a course with world renowned pastelist Alain Picard that has given me the inspiration I needed.
I love the play of light and shadow in our environment and the way it creates beautiful color and shapes. I am always looking for images that have potential to make exciting paintings. I love to paint “plein air” and I always keep my phone (camera) close so that I can snap moments in time. When I use photos as a reference I try to remember my emotional connection to the scene so that I am never a slave to a photo.
I believe Art should evoke an emotion and I hope my art brings a sparkle to your day! |
