ARTIST BIO

As a child I enjoyed exposure to art in all its diverse forms, courtesy of my artist parent’s involvement within the ‘Angry Penguins’ movement.

Artists such a Fred Williams, Arthur Boyd, Anselm Kieffer and Freddie Timms inspired me with their rich and evocative palette of materials and representation of their surrounds.

My earliest work ‘Stonehenge’, completed in 1989, interpreted the ‘Art Brut’ method by artist Jean Dubuffet which he applied to his work ‘Dhotel nuance d’abricot’.

The combination of earth, ash and sand alongside various paint mediums allow me to continue my connections to landscape through art.

Following on from my career as a successful landscape designer, I continue story telling on canvas.

Luke’s recent works explore the unique colour palettes and textural qualities in the Australian landscape from Uluru to the surreal Neapolitan colours and textures of Hutt Lagoon’s salt lakes.
